Product details

Miodula Presidential Blend Honey Liquor is a Polish oak-aged honey spirit from Miodula, combining Polish spirit with natural honeydew honey and soft vanilla, at 40% ABV in a 50cl bottle. In Poland it goes by Miodula Prezydencka. It rests in charred barrels made from selected Polish oak, which give it an amber colour and a clear wood character. Each bottle is signed individually, and the label records the barrel, the date it was sealed and the bottling date. It is aimed at people who sip brandy or whisky and want something honeyed and distinctly Polish.

Miodula Presidential tasting notes

  • Nose: Dark honeydew honey, vanilla pod and toasted oak.
  • Palate: Rounded honey sweetness over caramelised wood and gentle baking spice.
  • Finish: Long and oaky, with honey lingering on the lips.

Because honeydew honey is darker and less floral than blossom honey, the glass leans towards toffee and wood rather than flowers.

How to drink Miodula Presidential

Pour it at room temperature or just below into a tulip glass and sip it slowly, as you would a good brandy. A cheese board with walnuts and dried figs suits it well, as does a slice of sernik or honey cake. It works as a celebratory glass at a family name day, a wedding anniversary or the end of a long Christmas dinner.

Cocktails with Miodula Presidential

  • Miodula Presidential Old Fashioned: stir 50 ml Miodula Presidential with two dashes of aromatic bitters over a large ice cube in a rocks glass and finish with an orange twist; the honey means no sugar is needed.
  • Honey Highball: 40 ml of the spirit in a tall glass of ice, topped with 120 ml chilled ginger ale and a lemon wedge.

How it compares

This is the cask the rest of the range borrows from: Miodula Polish Vodka and Miodula Sweet Lemon both mature in barrels that previously held the Presidential. The vodka is lighter and led by rye, and the Sweet Lemon is a 28% citrus liqueur, while the Presidential carries far more honey, vanilla and oak than either.

Good to know

The individually signed label makes Miodula Presidential 50cl a considered gift for a birthday, a retirement or a host who collects unusual spirits. A Polish oak-aged honey spirit also stands out on a whisky shelf. Wodka Company ships Miodula Presidential from London to any UK address.

Po polsku

Miodula Prezydencka to bursztynowy trunek na bazie polskiego spirytusu z naturalnym miodem spadziowym, leżakowany w opalanych beczkach z polskiego dębu; moc 40%, butelka 0,5 l. W aromacie czuć ciemny miód, laskę wanilii i przypieczone drewno, a zakończenie jest długie i dębowe. Każda butelka jest ręcznie opisana i numerowana. Warto pić ją powoli, w temperaturze pokojowej lub lekko schłodzoną, z serami, orzechami włoskimi i suszonymi figami.

Frequently asked questions

What does the name Miodula mean in Miodula Presidential?

The name Miodula comes from miód, the Polish word for honey, which is the heart of Miodula Presidential. Prezydencka on the label is the Polish form of “Presidential”, the name of this oak-aged flagship.

Is Miodula Presidential a mead?

No, Miodula Presidential is a honey spirit: Polish spirit combined with honeydew honey and aged in oak. Traditional Polish mead, miód pitny, is made by fermenting honey with water, so it is closer to a wine than to a spirit.

What is honeydew honey in Miodula Presidential?

Honeydew honey, or miód spadziowy, is made by bees from the sweet secretions left on tree leaves and needles rather than from flower nectar. Darker and less sugary than blossom honey, it gives Miodula Presidential its deep, slightly malty character.
