Product details
Dalkowski Advocaat Egg Liqueur is a Polish advocaat egg liqueur from Dalkowski, thick and custard-yellow, with egg yolk and vanilla at 16% ABV in a 50cl bottle. In Poland the bottle is labelled Likier Jajeczny, and it follows a traditional recipe in the Dutch advocaat style. The body is dense enough to coat a spoon, so it behaves as much like a pouring custard as a drink. Of the five Dalkowski bottles on our shelves, this is the only one built on egg rather than fruit, cocoa or flowers. It suits anyone who likes a sweet glass after dinner or a boozy topping for pudding.
Dalkowski Advocaat tasting notes
- Nose: Vanilla custard and warm egg yolk, with a faint brandy-like edge.
- Palate: Thick and velvety, with sweet egg cream, vanilla pod and a soft spice reminiscent of nutmeg.
- Finish: Creamy and slow to fade, with a mild warmth of spirit at the end.
The colour is a pale, opaque yellow, and the texture is noticeably heavier than that of a typical cream liqueur.
How to drink Dalkowski Advocaat
Chill the bottle and serve it at 6–8°C in a small liqueur glass, or spoon it straight over vanilla ice cream, waffles or warm pancakes. It is a natural partner for sernik, the Polish baked cheesecake, and for plain sponge cakes that soak up the custard. A glass after Sunday lunch, or alongside coffee and cake at Easter, suits its rich style better than a long evening of sipping.
Dalkowski Advocaat cocktails
- Snowball: 50 ml Dalkowski Advocaat in a highball over ice, topped up with 150 ml chilled lemonade and a squeeze of lime, then stirred gently.
- Advocaat Flip: shake 40 ml Dalkowski Advocaat with 20 ml brandy and 20 ml whole milk over ice, strain into a small coupe and grate nutmeg on top.
How it compares
Next to Dalkowski Chocolate with Orange Liqueur and Dalkowski Strawberry Liqueur, both at 15%, the Advocaat is a point higher at 16% and much denser in the glass. Its flavour is custard and vanilla rather than cocoa or fruit, so it reads as a dessert in its own right. Choose the chocolate-orange or strawberry bottles when you want a lighter, flavoured liqueur to sip.
Good to know
Dalkowski is a Polish liqueur brand, and the Dalkowski Advocaat 50cl bottle is a handy size for baking as well as pouring. Because it is made with egg, keep it in the fridge once opened and give it a gentle shake before serving. Wodka Company delivers Dalkowski Advocaat to addresses across the UK from our London shop.
Po polsku
Dalkowski Advocaat, w Polsce znany jako Likier Jajeczny, to gęsty, kremowy likier jajeczny o mocy 16% w butelce 0,5 l. Powstaje według tradycyjnej receptury w stylu holenderskiego advocaatu. W smaku dominuje słodki krem z żółtek i wanilia, z delikatną nutą przypominającą gałkę muszkatołową. Najlepiej podawać go schłodzony do 6–8°C w małym kieliszku albo polać nim lody waniliowe, naleśniki lub kawałek sernika. Z lemoniadą i odrobiną limonki powstaje klasyczny Snowball.
Frequently asked questions
Is Dalkowski Advocaat the same as ajerkoniak?
Yes, broadly. Ajerkoniak is the everyday Polish word for egg liqueur, and Dalkowski Advocaat belongs to that same family of thick, yolk-based dessert drinks, even though its label uses the more literal Likier Jajeczny, meaning “egg liqueur”.
What desserts can you make with Dalkowski Advocaat?
Dalkowski Advocaat doubles as a ready-made custard sauce: pour a spoonful over warm waffles, fresh berries or a bowl of vanilla ice cream. Polish home bakers also stir egg liqueur into cheesecake and sponge fillings, and it makes a grown-up layer in a trifle.
What is the difference between Dalkowski Advocaat and Dalkowski Chocolate with Orange?
Dalkowski Advocaat is built on egg yolk and vanilla, with a dense, spoonable texture. Dalkowski Chocolate with Orange is a thinner cream liqueur that tastes of cocoa and orange zest, so it sits better beside an espresso, while the advocaat behaves more like a pouring custard.
