Product details

Soplica Hazelnut Vodka Liqueur is a Polish hazelnut vodka liqueur flavoured with hazelnuts from Polish forests on a rye and wheat grain spirit base, bottled by Soplica at 28% ABV in a 50cl bottle. In Poland it goes by the name Orzech Laskowy, and the recipe was developed by Soplica's own specialists. Sweet and aromatic, it has a toasted, roasted-nut character that holds up on its own and in mixed drinks. Fans of Italian hazelnut liqueur, and anyone who adds hazelnut syrup to a latte, will find it familiar.

Soplica Hazelnut tasting notes

  • Nose: Toasted hazelnuts, praline and a light vanilla sweetness.
  • Palate: Sweet, nutty and rounded, like hazelnut brittle, with a warming spirit core.
  • Finish: Medium length, toasty and nutty.

How to drink Soplica Hazelnut

Serve it chilled in a small glass or over ice, and sip it slowly after a meal. A splash of 25–30 ml makes Soplica Hazelnut in coffee an easy treat on a winter afternoon, especially with a spoonful of whipped cream. It pairs with apple pie, biscotti, a hazelnut tort and a few squares of milk chocolate.

Soplica Hazelnut cocktails and mixers

  • Hazelnut Latte: 40 ml Soplica Hazelnut stirred into 200 ml hot milky coffee, topped with whipped cream.
  • Nutty Old Fashioned: 40 ml Soplica Hazelnut, 20 ml bourbon and a dash of aromatic bitters, stirred with ice and strained over a large cube, with orange peel.
  • Hazelnut Cream Soda: 40 ml Soplica Hazelnut over ice in a tall glass, topped with 120 ml cream soda.

How it compares

Soplica Nut in Chocolate at 25% adds chocolate to the hazelnut for a richer dessert style, while this bottle stays lighter and toastier. Soplica Coffee at 25% is darker and more bittersweet, and the two combine well: equal parts over ice taste like a hazelnut mocha. Pick the plain hazelnut when you want the nut flavour to lead.

Good to know

Soplica Hazelnut 50cl earns its place in a Christmas drinks cupboard, where it works in coffee, desserts and baking; a spoonful brushed over a sponge adds a nutty note. Wodka Company ships Soplica Hazelnut to homes across the UK from north London.

Słodki i okrągły, z nutą prażonych orzechów i pralinek, przypomina trochę orzechowy krokant. Schłodzony smakuje dobrze w małym kieliszku lub z lodem, a zimą można wmieszać 40 ml do gorącej kawy z mlekiem.

Frequently asked questions

Is Soplica Hazelnut sweet?

Yes, Soplica Hazelnut is a sweet liqueur, though its roasted-nut flavour keeps it from tasting sugary. Expect toasted hazelnut, praline and a little vanilla, so Soplica Hazelnut comes across more like nut brittle than a syrup.

Is Soplica Hazelnut a vodka or a liqueur?

Soplica Hazelnut is a vodka-based liqueur rather than a vodka in the strict sense. Hazelnut flavour and sweetness are added to a rye and wheat grain spirit, and at 28% ABV Soplica Hazelnut sits below the 37.5% legal minimum for vodka in the UK and EU.

What can you mix with Soplica Hazelnut?

Soplica Hazelnut mixes best with coffee, cream and chocolate. Add 25 ml to an espresso or cappuccino, stir a measure into hot chocolate, or shake Soplica Hazelnut with vodka and espresso for a nutty Espresso Martini.

What does 'Orzech Laskowy' mean?

Orzech laskowy is the Polish name for hazelnut, with orzech meaning nut, and Soplica Hazelnut is sold under this name in Poland. The same hazelnut with added chocolate becomes Soplica Nut in Chocolate (Orzech Laskowy w Czekoladzie).
